The British Council, on Monday, began training of fourteen journalists in their Abuja office.
The training is part of their contributions to the success of the forthcoming general elections in Nigeria. It is the second in a series. The first part was held a week earlier in Lagos where similar number of journalists were trained.
The training is organized in collaboration with Thompson Foundation and anchored by Dan Mason, a seasoned journalist and an editor.
Mr Mason believes journalism is having the power to publish and strongly feels social media journalism will some day drive the traditional print to the grave. He is an a guru of new media and hopes to teach the trainees his skills in seven days.
The trainees said they learned so much about new media journalism 48 hour after the training began.
“It is an amazing experience,” Aichatou Saleh, who attended from Freedom magazine in kano said.
