The Action Congress of Nigeria won the recent governoship election in the state. The party won in all 18 local governments and virtually all the polling units.
Interestingly, they won units where People’s Democratic Party heavy weights voted.

Let me sincerely appreciate what the members of the party are doing, especially what those of us who are holding offices as President, Governors and those who hold elective positions.  We have just finished elections and there are lots of expectations  from us but somehow, things have not happened exactly the way we expected it should but, you are still with us and we are still working for the party. So, we appreciate that. Aminu Tambuwal elected Speaker against PDP’s wish

Members of the House of Representative today defiled the wish of the ruling People’s Democratic Party to elect Aminu Tambuwal as its speaker. He was elected alongside Emeka Ihedioha, his deputy.

Mr Tambuwal was elected by a simple majority vote 252 members on Monday amidst cheers during the inauguration of the seventh session of the House of Representatives. His election brought an end to a long draw battle for the position occasioned by a controversial zoning of the Speakership to Nigeria’s South West by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
