Sanusi Lamido, CBN governor said attempts to introduce Islamic banking predates him

The Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi Lamido was at the senate on Wednesday for a meeting with the senate committee on banking. There, he spoke passionately about Islamic banking taking listeners through its history and benefits.

He defended the policy which has been heavily criticized by many Nigerians. He said plans to introduce it predates him.

Senator Benedict Ayade is a PDP senator from Cross River state. He is a professor and a first time senator. While arguing a motion on Human trafficking at a senate plenary, he admitted they – senators – receive fat salaries. He was quickly rebuked by his colleagues and was made to withdraw the statement by the senate president, David Mark.
